Our Story

Em Tony in the Sunnin kitchen, preparing traditional Lebanese dishes
Em Tony, the heart behind Sunnin’s recipes.

From a Mother’s Kitchen

Almost four decades ago, Em Tony arrived in California with a mother’s passion for feeding people and a handful of treasured recipes from a small village in Lebanon. What began as a tiny, hole-in-the-wall snack bar grew into a full-service restaurant serving and catering authentic Lebanese food across greater Los Angeles—always true to the flavors, values, and traditions that started it all.

At Sunnin, you’ll find a down-to-earth, family atmosphere and food made with care: fresh produce, fragrant herbs, and the slow, honest cooking we learned at home.

Whether you’re a connoisseur of Lebanese cuisine or discovering Mediterranean dishes for the first time—whether you crave chicken kebab, prefer vegetarian mezze, or eat fully vegan—you’re welcome at our table. Come taste the generosity of a meal made with a mother’s love.

Sunnin Lebanese Café has been a staple of Westwood and West Los Angeles for nearly three decades. Founded as a family-owned restaurant rooted in Lebanese culture and tradition, Sunnin began with a simple mission: to bring the warm flavors of homemade Lebanese cooking to the community.

Since 1996, we’ve proudly served students, locals, and visitors with dishes inspired by generations of family recipes. From our signature hummus and shawarma to our daily entrées and vegan-friendly options, every meal reflects our commitment to quality, authenticity, and hospitality. Today, Sunnin remains a beloved destination for those seeking genuine Mediterranean food in West LA — prepared fresh, served with care, and always made from the heart.
